Information
02-02-04 James (Jim) White was born and raised in Pasadena,
California. He graduated Pasadena High School and Lettered
in 3 Varsity sports. Served in U.S. Navy for 4 years
and was honorably discharged.
Graduated Graceland University (Iowa). Masters degree
at the University of Iowa (was Assistant Varsity Football
Coach and Head Fencing Coach). Completed Ph.D. at University
of Southern California.
For thirty-three years he taught in the Departments
of Physical Education at the University California San
Diego. He was the Director of Exercise Physiology and
Human Performance Laboratory and taught: Kinesiology,
Physiology of Exercise, Human Anatomy, and for seven
years taught courses in Preventive Medicine
at UCSD School of Medicine.
Jim has 39 research studies: The New England Journal
of Medicine, The Harvard Business Review, Chest, Medicine
and Science in Sports and Exercise, Archives of Sexual
Behavior. . . .
He authored five books on health, fitness, nutrition,
human sexuality, and has written numerous articles for
professional journals and popular magazines.
He was a member and presenter for: The National Collegiate
Athletic Association (NCAA), American Heart Association,
American Lung Association and was elected Fellow
in the American College of Sports Medicine. He was Trainer/Coach
for the National Fencing Championships and Olympic Trials
of 1972 and 1976. Has been a frequent speaker at major
health, fitness, nutrition and human sexuality conferences
throughout the world and has lectured at The Golden
Door Spa and at La Puerta Health Spa in Tecate, Mexico.
He currently lectures to senior groups: AARP, UCSD Gerontology,
American Society on Aging, The National Council on the
Aging. . . .
