The Prostate Cancer Research and Education Foundation provides seed money
to deserving researchers to help them generate preliminary
results that are needed to obtain major grants. We concentrate
on projects that will help prostate cancer patients
sooner rather than later. It is our policy to fund direct
expenses only, not overhead expenses.
These are projects that would not get started without
the help of seed money from PC-REF. Indeed, the seed
money program for innovative ideas and new research
in prostate cancer is what makes PC-REF stand out from
among the many other prostate cancer foundations.

Dr. Barken devotes his
time to patient support activities, such as Coaching and providing Medical Reviews
for prostate cancer patients and their loved ones. He is able to focus on finding
and evaluating new research opportunities to be funded by PC-REF that can open
the door to better treatments and better technology for today’s prostate
cancer patients.
